On Great George Street, Jojo Maman Bébé is a fashion retailer specialising in maternity and breastfeeding fashion and clothes from newborns, babies and toddlers. Their collections include nursery products, furniture, gifts and toys; offering new parents, friends and family everything they need from pregnancy to pre-school.

Prenatal and postnatal support

Specialist Women’s Health Physiotherapist, Gillian O’Kane offers a range of therapies at The Movement Studio in Ashton Lane including physiotherapy, pregnancy massage, 1:1 Pilates and acupuncture.

Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis for mums to be, mums and dads are available at The Movement Studio in Ashton Lane.

Hillhead Library 

Hillhead Library hosts a variety of free family-friendly events. Bookbug Sessions are available every Monday 10.30am-11am and Friday 2pm-2.30pm. They are free, fun and friendly events for babies, toddlers, pre-schoolers and their families to enjoy together. 

Glasgow Life Rhyme Time classes introduce Gaelic to young children (0-3yrs) every Friday 10am-11am. Each week the children learn various aspects of the language including – greetings, their names, basic instructions, colours, songs and numbers.

Grosvenor Cinema has daily screenings and watch with baby events every Tuesday and Thursday morning. Grosvenor Cinema and Grosvenor Cafe have frequent family-friendly events. 

Glasgow Botanic Gardens 

At the top of the Byres Road is the Glasgow Botanic Gardens, offering ample space for those lazy days; sitting, enjoying a read, eating ice cream, and having picnics. The garden is dominated by the recently restored Kibble Palace, a magnificent Curvilinular Glasshouse designed by John Kibble. The site also plays host to various other structures housing rare plants from Scotland and the wider world.

Wee Garden in Glasgow Botanic Garden runs spring to autumn. Information about upcoming events can be found on the noticeboard outside the children’s garden. Contact them directly to find out more information and how to volunteer.

Kelvinside Hillhead Parish Church

Kelvinside Hillhead Parish Church

Just off Byres Road on Observatory Road, Kelvinside Hillhead Parish Church hosts a range of events for families. 

Kinderclub a German language toddler group meets on Mondays 10am-12pm and Saturdays 10am-12pm at the church. Kelvinside Hillhead Toddlers runs on Tuesdays and Thursdays 10am-12pm. Every Wednesday 10am-12pm, Le Club Picoti a French-speaking toddler group for two hours of play, craft activities, a snack and singing.  Dance with Babies and Toddlers classes by Joimove Families Community are every Thursday. 

Kelvingrove Museum and Park

Glasgow Botanic Gardens and Kelvingrove Park are connected through the Kelvinway taking you along the banks of River Kelvin, ideal for a stroll with the family. Buggy Fit outdoor postnatal fitness classes for mums and babies meet in Kelvingrove Park on a regular basis. Every Friday 11.30am-12pm Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum host Toddler Time for fun in the galleries with songs, rhymes and stories. Sessions take inspiration from artworks and animals on display.

Kelvingrove Park is a green oasis of 85 acres; an important wildlife corridor where you can easily spot grey squirrels, blue tits, magpies and grey herons or if you’re really lucky; Kingfishers and Cormorants. In the centre of the park, the historic bandstand has recently been fully restored and showcases a variety of acts including bands and theatre groups. The park also offer barbecues for those warm summer days when the whole family is gathered in the park.
