WORKING AT BILL IN THE BOTANICS OUTDOOR CINEMA IN AUGUST
Tell us a bit about what you do at the BID.
I’m a fresh face starting with the BID in June of this year and I deal with our events & communications taking care of our website, social media and our events calendar.
What do you enjoy about working at the BID?
I love working in the West End, surrounded by so many fantastic businesses there’s always something different to see, do and eat! All of the businesses in the area and in the BID are friendly and welcoming and it’s great to be able to work in a community like this!
Are you a local?
Yes, I live in Partick and have been living in and around the West End since I went to uni.
Having moved around Byres, Cecil and Chancellor Street I have experienced both top and bottom ends of Byres Road.
What would you recommend for a visitor’s first trip to Glasgow?
For their first trip devoting some time to the East End, South Side & West End. A visit to the Necropolis is a must for spectacular views over the city in the East, then jump on the subway to the Southside, explore the Govanhill baths or Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s House for an Art Lover. In the West explore historic Glasgow Uni, browse amazing pieces in Kelvingrove Art Gallery and then take a wander up to one of Byres Roads fab cafes /restaurants for lunch.

Favourite West End spot?
Ruthven and Dowanside Lane/ Ruthven Mews. I love vintage and antiques and there’s nowhere better to bag a great find than here! Filled with shops selling curios and vintage clothing alongside comic books, art galleries and gift shops.

What’s your guilty pleasure?
Visiting the cacti house at the Botanic Gardens and wishing I had them all in my flat!
