Yes it's true! Byres Road is getting its very own Christmas tree, and Visit West End has a special day lined up for the official switch on.
Join us from 12 noon for a wee Christmas market featuring Demijohn, the liquid deli, The Hill, Janet & John, Makers Market Pop Up Shop, The Nancy Smillie Shop, Papyrus, Pink Poodle, Glasgow, Rawnchy Desserts, Shearer Candles, Bonny Wee Buttons and others.
From 2pm, local choirs and performers including Voicebeat, Awkward Family Portraits, Kelvin Ensemble, GUMC Choir and GUMC Chamber Choir will be keeping us entertained with Christmas songs and carols. Our compere for the day is the lovely Debs Cowan from Amplifive
The Christmas tree will be switched on at 6pm by two special guests: BBC weather presenter Judith Ralston and our Guardian of the Tree: artist, road sweeper and West End favourite Allan Richardson, said to be "the most humble, polite and kind person I have encountered in my job of 25 years" by the person who nominated him.
Sunday the 27th November also marks the start of our week-long promotions period, supporting Small Business Saturday. We’ll be handing out free booklets with great offers in many of our shops, restaurants and services. You can also download the booklet here.
