The West End has long been known for its creativity and its love of literature. We want to celebrate both this rich cultural heritage and strong contemporary work. And what better way to do that than with a Byres Road Book Festival?
Organised by Visit West End, the festival is a partnership between Glasgow Life, Oxfam and Waterstones and will be held over four days. One important strand will be dedicated to the crime novel, Scotland’s favourite literary genre. In addition to the programme of conversations and discussions, we are hosting signings, storytelling sessions, literary tours and a murder mystery event. We are proudly embracing the local and celebrating the universal. Author highlights include Chris Brookmyre, Douglas Lindsay and recently Graeme Macrae Burnet, who has recently been longlisted for the Man Booker Prize.
