October/November 2025
Work on the four corners of the Highburgh Road/University Avenue junctions is mostly complete.
It is hoped that the replacement traffic lights will be in operation by the end of October and the temporary traffic lights will be removed.
Work has begun on the construction of the new cycle lane between the corner of Highburgh Road and the Dowanside Road junction.
The new pavements will then be constructed between Tennent’s and Ryman.
This will inevitably cause some disruption, but all businesses will remain open as usual.
Work operations in Byres Road itself will cease during the week ending the 21st November, and the contractors will clear away as many barriers and storage areas as they can, to leave Byres Road clear for the run-up to Christmas.
Work will switch to University Avenue, where new pavements will be installed from the Byres Road junction up to the entrance to the Ashton Road car park on one side, and close to the bus stop on the other side.
Work will start again on Byres Road in early January.
